A Wedding
A Wedding

I went to a good friend's wedding yesterday! It was a great time of celebrating a new journey between two people. As I watched them say their vows, kiss the bride, cut the cake, and just be joyful in their new union, I realized many things:

First, new beginnings are exciting! Whether you are starting a new job, in a new relationship, graduating college, or any other new start, it is exciting! The newness of a fresh start is invigorating.

Second, it clears a path for new ideas. A new beginning gives you the motivation to try new things, get out of your past faults and see a brighter future.

Third, it allows the mind to be more open to different.

As I continued watching I began reflecting on Jesus and how his first miracle was at a wedding. It was the first time he showed everyone who he truly was and what he was going to do. I don't think it was any accident it was at a wedding. It was an exciting time, it set the path for new ideas, and it opened people up to something different. Even God uses these times of new beginnings to bring people to Him.

I have had several new beginnings in my own life. The day I was baptized, the day I got married, the day I graduated from college, the day I started my career in teaching, the day my children were born, the day I got divorced. All of these days were new beginnings. All of these days had their ups and downs. Some were joyful, some were painful, but all of them helped me grow.

As you read my posts, I hope you see that life's story will take you up in down, but you will always have new beginnings in your life. Take these opportunities to reset, renew and set a path for making the most of your story.
